recent distraction of sailing got sidetracked to narrowboats where I stumbled on to «The Mindful Narrowboat» channel – and, in part because the creator is a naturalist, I come across the realization that US media is doing the same thing to England that they’ve done to Mexico – Mexico (and the Middle East) gets buried under an orange filter – England gets buried under an industrial fog

I should know better but my only experience with the reality was when I was in fifth grade and far too full of myself as an American living amongst the losers of the Revolution – absolutely enamored by the castles and museums and Roman roads, but too young to pay attention to their settings – Epsom had plenty of access to nature and walking trails, but old memories of Croydon and London only reinforced the modern misconception – and with computer culture being in love with steampunk, Ada Lovelace, and Charles Babbage, that same misperception just keeps gathering momentum
