I would make the claim that keeping an eye on brain drain is massively important – it is a clear precursor of worse things to come – Wikipedia wants to argue against the term «brain drain» in favor of «human capital flight», but human capital flight is from the point of view of a country or corporation rather than from the point of view of the trained and skilled who are leaving – anyone can see the coming problems, the skilled and trained are the ones who can afford to make the move leaving behind those who can’t afford to move and those who either don’t see the problems or agree with the problems – not just conservatives stifling progress but actively trying to regress – in the US, the last couple of decades have already seen a brain drain from red states to blue states, but with the re-election of Trump, we are seeing a clear brain drain out of the US (one that EU is eager to capitalize on) – even Russia and China are eager to get in on the action, flooding the inboxes of anyone fired by Trump, Musk, or DOGE
