Mozilla has decided to remove the «Do Not Track» option from Firefox – while it sounded good at the time, it relied on websites and advertisers voluntarily behaving themselves – a mission we’ve seen they’re clearly incapable of – and so we’re right back to ad-blockers to maintain some modicum of safety and privacy

along those same lines, anyone running any sort of outward facing server has to maintain their own sets
of blocklists – an issue that was supposed to be handled by robots.txt
– but again, the bots
were supposed to voluntarily behave and, again, they’re clearly not capable of that – between webcrawlers,
AI slurpers, DDOS attacks, and what-have-you, sysadmins are back to dealing with blocklists or shelling out
for expensive «protection subscriptions»
