I’m of the age that my health care “provider” has been sending out colon cancer screening kits – and when I get one, I pause and give serious consideration to not returning it – knowledge is important, but sitting in the back of my mind is the thought «if it’s positive, can I afford to do anything about it?» – and I’m moderately well off (the last vestiges of the dying US middle class) – with 60% of the US living paycheck-to-paycheck, that same thought is enough to induce panic attacks
