for a long time now, I’ve used various means to keep track of notable days (events and holidays I found interesting at one point) – as an example, today is Festival of Sekhmet and Distaff Day – the Festival of Sekhmet is «a festival of intoxication, dancing, and music» to celebrate distracting Sekhmet from her rampage by getting her drunk – Distaff Day is a medieval holdover, the first day after the feast of Epiphany (celebrating the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas) when women resumed their household work (men got to wait until the first Monday after Epiphany, Plough Monday) – and according to Wikipedia, Distaff Day has now been reclaimed by craft groups and fiber arts communities
