one of the biggest foes (and one of the biggest allies) of any gamer is RND (random number generator) – and part of the problem is that it is really hard for us to accept random as being random – we insist on seeing patterns everywhere (even when there are none) and randomness is the complete antithesis to this perception – when a streak of good luck happens (the randomness working in our favor), we will back-analyze previous behavior and create «cargo cult» like mannerisms in an attempt to re-create that streak – always follow the left wall instead of the right wall in a dungeon – always open those chests but always ignore the other chests – always open rewards in a certain order – never kill a specific mob – always harvest that one resource node
