Mark Stosberg recently did an article about being able to use universal keycodes
for copy/paste in Linux with an aside about unifying Linux clipboards – without
installing anything or configuring anything, Linux starts out with two default
clipboards – one is the standard GUI Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V
(or
Ctrl-Shift-C, Ctrl-Shift-V
in terminal) – the other is an older
select-to-copy, middleclick-to-paste
from terminals – and I like
having access to two completely separate clipboards – and all without having to
install any fancy clipboard manager (which, while useful, they’re completely
overboard for my needs)
