the reminder I wrote down for this note was «your FOSS purity test does not
trump accessibility» – yes, I’m looking at stuff like Trisquel GNU/Linux and
GNU Guix – both of them are focused on the GNU purity test of no proprietary
software, no proprietary drivers, no proprietary binary blobs (Guix has a way
around that with nonguix, but you’re not allowed to talk about that)
– and as recent posts on accessiblity have pointed out (including the
fireborn series), unless you have a unicorn system that works
perfectly with open source drivers, breaking your audio stack or your USB HID
stack simply because you refuse to load drivers turns your purity test into an
accessibility nightmare
