one of the commentaries that made the rounds of solarpunk several years ago paralleled the thinking of Low←Tech Magazine’s Heating People, Not Spaces – Victorian houses were extremely energy inefficient (certainly by today’s standards) and at the same time used far less energy than modern houses – a whole series of small rooms connected together, no long hallways, no open plans – with the result, you only heated the room you were in and the other rooms were kept closed to act as insulating air pockets
