the Pascal programming language has been with us for a while now and, since it’s a case insensitive language, style guides are all over the place – the earliest examples were in all uppercase, but as soon as lowercase character sets became prevalent, everyone immediately switched to all lowercase – despite the eponymous PascalCase, most modern guides prefer camelCase – BYTE magazine showed BASIC examples in fixed-width, all uppercase alongside Pascal examples in proportional-width, all lowercase, with bold and italics – Apple used a mix of uppercase for keywords, and PascalCase or camelCase for everything else (most other examples reserve uppercase for constants only)
