beyond the moral, ethical, and environmental dilemnas of LLMs is their straight-up unreliability – the whole point behind computers is their reliability - “it does exactly what you tell it to do” – whereas LLMs just return random garbage – while the randomness might be appealing to some non-programmers, I’m not sure I see the point – I’ve played with ELIZA and Mark V. Shaney enough that modern LLMs feel no different and no more reliable
