for a nation ostensibly founded by tax dodgers, we have the most bass-ackwards tax system – the government already knows how much you owe, but the US government still insists on you “showing your work” like some school kid – Europeans acknowledge their government already knows – all they have to do is log in, agree to the amount, sign the tax form, and done – some of the Nordic countries take it a step further and publish a list of something like the top ten tax payers – they’ll still grumble about having to pay taxes but they also take pride in contributing to their country
