«Squirrel!» on fence, San José, California

my current distraction is cruising (even more so when you add in tales of solo circumnavigation in pocket cruisers) – sidetracked off HundredRabbits’ Pino into John Vigor’s description of Bristol Channel Cutter 28 («Safety-at-sea factor: 1») into Tania Aebi’s solo circumnavigation in a Taylor 26

(hundredrabbits) Pino
→ John Vigor, Twenty Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere (1999)
(wikipedia) Tania Aebi

but as with any of my other distractions, it all comes down to time – I just don’t have the time to indulge – actually better would be to say, I can’t afford the time – and so I console myself with Youtube videos, crusty old guys uncontrollably beaming ear-to-ear taking their sailboat out for the first time, descriptions of galley setups and gimballed stoves, warnings about the costs of supplies and provisions and maintenance …

«We all have the same 24 hours.»
Use public transport? Your 24 hours are not the same as those of private jet owners. Do your own cooking, cleaning, child-raising? Your 24 hours are not the same as those of someone with a full-time domestic staff. Stop this nonsense.
