recently switched from Qwant to Startpage for my default search engine – needless to say,
I haven’t gotten decent results out of Google for yonks (especially since they now completely ignore
the +, -, and "" modifiers they themselves introduced) –
when I decided to leave them, I stumbled around the usual suspects (DuckDuckGo, Startpage, Qwant, SearX)
and eventually settled on Startpage – after allegations of Startpage getting bought out by adtech company
System1, I switched over to Qwant – but now Qwant has changed bot mitigation providers and gives me
nothing but «Access blocked» while the fears over Startpage haven’t surfaced yet, I’m back to Startpage
… for now …
