the cat is out of the bag – regardless of your views on «the evils of globalisation», it has already happened and has established itself as the default mode for capitalism – thinking tariffs will bring manufacturing back to the country is beating up a dandelion three fields over from the cat – and when you’re the only one doing it, whether to push your grift or for *cough* «good intentions», corporations are not gonna «see the light» and buckle under, they’re going to retreat to safer harbors – corporations will move themselves and their headquarters out of the country long before they would even consider moving every company in their supply chain stateside and subjecting themselves to the vacillating whims of a syphilis-ridden tyrant
