despite plentry of examples to the contrary, our ruling class lives by the mantra «short term profits trump long term savings» – combined with an inability to see past the end of the quarter means we live in a society that does nothing but shoot the goose that lays the golden egg – Helsinki saved the country of Finland €15 000 per person per year just by buying a house for unhoused – right-wingers in Finland couldn’t dismantle the program fast enough – every trial of UBI has been wildly successful (with overall productivity jumping way up) – «but people will just be lazy and leech» as if the ruling class wasn’t parasitizing our world to death – universal healthcare costs less to cover everyone (even so-called «freeloaders») than the cost of the bureaucracy required to screen everyone for «eligibility»
