Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.—Hanlon’s razor
I think it is past time to coin yet another variant of Hanlon’s razor – something along the lines of «Never attribute to consumer choice that which can be explained by corporate greed.» – this should be the current response to «It’s the law of supply and demand.» or «If people didn’t like it, they should just shop elsewhere.» – corporations are manipulating the markets, both economically (monopoly) and politically (buying legislation) because the last thing they want is you going elsewhere – consumers aren’t buying a particular product because it’s the best on offer – corporations monopolize the market to make sure it’s the only thing on offer – corporations propagandize through advertising to make you think it’s the better choice – corporations will collude with each other to kill off any competition
