talking with other people, I’ve commented that I will be really happy when transporters are invented – one of my frustrations with travel is not visiting other countries but the traveling itself – a lot of this would be mitigated if we transition to a society where everyone could afford the time for slow travel (airship, sail) – we’ve already figured out working remotely – but as long as I am stuck in this capitalist hellscape, I am subject to capitalist modes of travel if I am to have any time at my destination – and capitalist modes of travel are aimed at maximizing profit, not comfort (unless you’re willing to spend more)
