within the US, there’s always been warnings from medical professionals against home remedies, traditional medicine, and alternative cures – of late, the situation has gotten more dire with people turning to LLMs for medical advice and mental therapy – the situation certainly isn’t helped by the strong anti-science backbone of conservatives – but there would be far less incentive to turn to alternates if healthcare in the US was affordable – we know we’re sick but when the only other option of dealing with ailments is bankrupting ourselves (and our families)
