one item that I never payed attention to until recently is that I’ve been watching the rise in popularity of “Japanese saws” (pull saws) over the decades – I started out with shop classes and rip or crosscut saws being pretty much the only options – but then Fine Woodworking started mentioning them and ads started featuring them (albeit under claptrap like “miracle saws from the mysterious east”) – I’ve picked up variations over the years (after all, they are easier to cut with and generally leave a finer kerf) – but now the tooth pattern seems to be stock for pruning saws – in Youtube videos, DIYers reach for Japanese-style pull saw first
