most of my daily music consumption is internet radio playing in the background – and most of that are stations focusing on decades (’80s, ’90s, etc.) – it certainly feels like there are a lot more genre stations available (but less selection of regional stations) – but I notice I’ve gotten into the habit of avoiding genre stations, mostly because I find them monotonic – there’s just not enough variety for a day’s listening – on that same line, I think that’s the main reason the streaming services never clicked with me, they’re too focused on choosing the next track that’s the same as the current
