stable tools like rsync and pandoc give in to the slop

effectively, finished – they were dealing with bug fixes and security patches,
but the base feature set was locked in – over the years, they had been building
their reputation on reliability and stability only to throw that goodwill in the
dumpster – no one wants probabilistic results in file synchronization, or in
document conversion, or in compiling
