going through the process of re-installing my system and I’m finding I appreciate one aspect of the Linux/BSD world that makes things so much easier – and that’s the insistence of separating config files from their programs – getting the base system up and running was quick and (mostly) painless – the rest is just a matter of remembering what programs I had installed previously – but it’s just that, re-installing individual programs – no having to go back and re-setup or re-configure the programs, they all just grab the existing configs and are good to go
