today
was looking through commandline file managers not too long ago which led to the
Wikipedia page – there’s a lot of file managers out there,
but they seem to have settled on a few basic styles – none (just using the
command line) – file-list (ex. nnn, ranger) –
orthodox (“commander” style, a triple-pane that everyone calls dual-pane) –
navigational (what has become today’s default : Mac, Windows, Gnome, KDE) – and
spatial (ex. Macintosh up to Mac OS 9, a style that has almost completely
disappeared)
