yesterday, I was talking about some of the creators orbiting around the World of Warcraft universe and how several of them “disappeared” – a large chunk seemed to have moved on to other things around 2010 which coincided with the release of the Cataclysm expansion – Blizzard had had a winning formula up until this point but veered off in a new direction (with conspiracies of switching from “Team A” to “Team B”) – they replaced the talent tree, reworked the zones (including breaking up The Barrens), and linearized the questing (as well as removing a few fan-favorite quests like “Cortello’s Riddle”) – while World of Warcraft was still massively successful, Cataclysm started to see the first decline in subscriber numbers
