allows for custom fonts to be used in the console –
the most recognizable of these is VGA8x16 which has barely changed
from its DOS days – the Linux kernel has several fonts that can get compiled in
if they’re enabled in the kernel config – most distros don’t enable anything
beyond VGA8x16 and TER16x32 – I wouldn’t mind trying
out a few options (SUN12x22 looks interesting), but I’m also too
lazy to go through the fuss of adding a custom kernel …
