Culture Beat «Mr. Vain» ↗
a couple weeks ago, Alpine Linux rolled out their 3.22 release and I went ahead
and updated – and everything went fine – except during boot I was now staring
at a huge console font instead of the familiar VGA font – Alpine used the 3.22
release to include a 2019 patch from Takashi Iwai that checked for high
resolution systems and swapped in the more legible TER16x32
font
for the smaller VGA8x16
font – there’s nothing wrong with Terminus,
I’m just more comfortable with VGA – so, add fbcon=font:VGA8x16
to
the tail end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
in
/etc/default/grub
, and then run doas update-grub
and
everything’s back to (so-called) «normal»
