I’ve never been great at learning another language but I think I’ve always been fascinated by languages in general – linguistics and makeup and connections and descendants – and I also find natural languages more interesting than constructed langauges (unless it’s really unique like Toki Pona) – and of those, it’s the “interstitial” languages that draw my attention – the pidgins (ex. Sabir), creoles (ex. Naijá), lingua francas (ex. Sogdian), and isolates (ex. Basque)
