I commented before that I find gray, cold, wet days to be absolutely draining – much more interested in curling up under the covers than actually doing anything – but one of the high points I always forget about: when I do step outside, the air smells absolutely amazing – bracing petrichor – taking long deep breaths of brisk air, feeling the cold reaching out to the extremities, flushing out the cobwebs of malaise and replacing it with «l’odeur propre de la terre»
