I remember complaining about this pet peeve a couple decades back and it doesn’t look like anything’s significantly changed – is it possible to make bike helmets that don’t look like an alien is in the process of trepanation? – a combination of trying to reduce weight and add air vents results in something more reminiscent of a facehugger or a headcrab than a helmet – yes, this is just me grumping about “newfangled”, but I did eventually find a nice matte-black option by Bell that is all sorts of boring (and just happens to look like a helmet)
